A Note from the Office:

April brings the start of halal meal options at East End and all PPS schools. Remember halal meals are available for all PPS students to enjoy. Please contact info@halalschoolmeals.org or montaj@portlandschools.org with any questions/concerns about the program.

The PTO is excited for East End's Family Dance Party on Friday, April 11th from 5-7:00 PM. Please remember an adult must attend with your students.

And, unsurprisingly, we need help! The PTO has been working hard to organize this and get a LOT of donated pizzas to serve, and now we need you to lend a hand during the actual event. We have made three simple shifts, each just one hour, and please, please, please sign up for one!
SHIFT 1: 4:30-5:30: setting up, handing out pizza and food when the doors open, and making sure that food is kept in the cafeteria.
SHIFT 2: 5:30-6:30: Handing out pizza and food when the doors open, and making sure that food is kept in the cafeteria.
SHIFT 3: 6:30-7:30: Finishing up snack hand outs, and helping us clean up.

Please help us make this easy - lots of people signing up will mean not a whole lot of work for anyone, which is the goal. SIGN UP HERE. Thank you!

All pretzels & hummus boxes, sun butter & jelly sandwiches with dried chickpeas, and salad bars will also be fully halal except for clearly labeled salad dressings. PPS halal meals have been certified by the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA).

The halal meal options are available for all PPS students to enjoy. Please contact

info@halalschoolmeals.org or montaj@portlandschools.org with any questions/concerns about the program.

Also, please hold Friday, April 11th from 5-7:00 PM for East End's PTO Family Dance.

We hope to see you Monday, March 17th for our Community Dinner (5:30-6:15 PM) in the cafe. Portland Schools' Food Service Director, Jennifer Montague, will be here looking for interested families who would like to be on the Parent Advisory Committee.

A Note from the Office:

There is NO SCHOOL on Friday, February 7th.

During the month of February, our school counselor will be discussing the difference between fair and equal with our pre-k through 2nd grade classes. Equality means treating everyone exactly the same. Fairness means treating people according to their needs. Understanding fairness and equality goes hand-in-hand with increasing students' tolerance and appreciation for diverse learners. Ask your students what the difference is between fair and equal!
