Kindergarten Registration is open until March, 24th. If your child is currently enrolled in the Portland Public Schools in one of our pre-kindergarten (4-year-old) classrooms, it is not necessary for you to re-enroll your child in kindergarten. Your child's enrollment will automatically "roll up" to your neighborhood kindergarten elementary school, according to your primary home address. Visit our Kindergarten Registration page for more information.

During the month of February, our school counselor will be discussing the difference between fair and equal with our pre-k through 2nd grade classes. Equality means treating everyone exactly the same. Fairness means treating people according to their needs. Understanding fairness and equality goes hand-in-hand with increasing students' tolerance and appreciation for diverse learners. Ask your students what the difference is between fair and equal!

January brings the start of ACCESS testing and Maine Through the Years testing for many students. The ACCESS provides information about students’ English language abilities in school. Educators use this information to make decisions about students’ education. ACCESS measures what students know and can do in English in the domains of Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing.
Please remind your students of the importance of theses test and to do their best.
