Letter from the Principal

Dear Families,

Welcome to East End Community School (EECS). We are excited to launch another year packed with rich, meaningful learning experiences for our whole community. This Student/Family Handbook is a reference for guidelines, policies, and procedures that we use at EECS and within the Portland Public Schools.  Inside are answers to many questions families typically wonder about or ask us. Topics are listed in alphabetical order. Please read the information and refer to it as a resource throughout the school year.   PPS policies also guide our work at the school level.

If there is any additional information that you think would be helpful, please reach out and let us know. We are always eager to listen to and work with parents and students on new ideas and procedures. Your input is not only important, but also necessary to create the best learning environment for our children.

Maintaining communication with your child’s teacher is critical to your child’s education. Please call before minor problems develop into larger ones. It takes families and teachers working together to provide a strong foundation for continued learning and success. If you have any questions, the staff here at East ENd is ready and willing to answer your call or email. We wish you a very successful academic year!

Sincerely,

Boyd Marley
Principal
