Guidelines for Keeping Sick Children Home from School
A sick child cannot learn effectively and is unable to participate in activities in a meaningful way. Keeping a sick child home prevents the spread of illness in the school community and allows the child the opportunity to rest and recover.
- Fever: If your child has a temperature of 100 degrees or more, he/she should stay home until they are fever free (without fever-reducing medication) for 24 hours.
- Diarrhea or Vomiting: If your child has diarrhea or vomiting, he/she should stay at home until they are symptom-free for 24 hours.
- Bacterial infections (such as Pink Eye or Strep Throat): Your child can return to school 24 hours after the first dose of prescription medication.
If your child is absent due to illness, please call 874-8228 to speak with the office and/or nurse.
