Welcome to East End Community School!

LearningWorks Aim High

LearningWorks has been a partner with East End Community School and Portland Public Schools for many years.  Their program, Aim High places teams of AmeriCorps Members at East End Community School, where they serve as tutors and mentors in and out of the classroom. East End’s AmeriCorps Members help boost students’ academic, social, and emotional development.  They have paid and volunteer positions available. If you would like to join or learn more about this wonderful organization, please click here.

Choice  + Relationships + Engagement  = Success!

East End Community School's Rise & Shine program began as a before school model of engagement that helps students kick start their day.  Our belief in engagement and relationship building help students to foster a mindset of success. Students engage with a caring and charismatic adult to get their minds working and bodies moving at the start of the day.  There are over 75 weekly activities offered (from six learning strands: STEM, Literacy, Health & Wellness, Languages, Citizenship and the Visual and Performing Arts).
R & S is an opportunity to building lasting relationships and engage students, staff and community in promising practices so students can access their learning.  Volunteers, parents and community partners, and EECS staff are the people who create the relationships within our school community that make Rise and Shine successful.  If you would like to become a volunteer please contact Dan Nogar ( for more information.

East End Community School always encourages students, staff and families to grow, learn & create every day!
