Here's whats happening

Students continue to have daily reading homework. Students should be reading for at least 15 minutes per day. Please help your child remember to read and fill out his/her log each night. Thank you!

3 ways to read

reading at home

Writing: We just starting learning about the different parts of a paragraph: topic sentence, details, and closing. We use the hamburger example: the top bun is the topic sentence (main idea), the details are the burger, lettuce, and toppings, and the closing sentence is the bottom bun.

:This past week we worked on solving one-step and two-step word problems using addition and subtraction within 100.

Science/Social Studies:

We studied Europe, Asia, and Australia. Asia is the largest continent and Europe the 2nd largest. Australia is home to the kangaroo!

7 continents

Side x Side: EECS has partnered with an organization called Side x Side to help 2nd graders explore and learn all about ocean animals. So far your child has chosen one animal and started a scientific drawing. Also, students will make an Informational booklet and craft project. Stay tuned!
