Dear Parents,                                                                                     9-06-16

The first two days of school went very well.  We had a lot of fun greeting each other in new ways.  It has been a wonderful way for us to learn each other’s names and to help develop a sense of community in our classroom.  The children always sit in a circle at morning meeting so that all can be seen and heard.  This daily routine will allow the children time to share, practice language and literacy skills through reading the daily message and find out new things about their new school “family”.

We have P.E. on Thursday, so please have your child wear sneakers so they can exercise safely.  We also have music on Monday and art on Friday.

Please make sure toys stay at home.  Things brought to school may get broken or lost and can be a distraction to learning.  Thank you for your help!

The school day ends at 2:50.  If you are picking your child up at the end of the day, please wait outside on the playground blacktop near the blue wing door.  I will bring your child to that area after the bus students have been released.  If you need to pick your child up during the day, you will need to go to the office to sign your child out and the office will call the classroom.

It is a great idea to send your child with an extra set of clothes to be left in their locker.  Also remember to send your child with appropriate outdoor wear and sneakers…we will play outside everyday and the wind on the hill can be chilly later in the fall and winter.

I am sending “Home-School” red folders home with notices and completed work each Monday.  I will write updates on what is happening in the classroom either once a week or every other week.  Please check for your child’s folder on Monday afternoon, clean it out, and return it with your child on Tuesday.  This week there is a yellow info sheet that will help me stay in touch with you.  Thank you for returning it to me!  Please make sure to tell me if there are any changes at home that might affect your child’s behavior or mood at school.  My e-mail is and the school phone number is 874-8182.  Call with any concerns and I will do my best to respond as soon as possible!
